December 31, Happy New Year

Wow, a whole year over. I took many photos in 2010...18,727 with my fancy camera, 320 with my iPhone, and more with my little Canon and film camera. I did miss 17 days picture taking, which feels kind of disappointing until I remember how annoying it could be to take a shot at 10 p.m. just to take a shot. Which means the quality or subject matter of some of the photos makes me cringe--wouldn't it be better to only share work I am proud of? But, I did it, and it got me in the habits of looking for even more photos and carrying my camera everywhere. I am glad I have a capsule of memories of 2010, and I am glad the project is over. If anyone is stilling checking out this blog, I'd love to know what some of your fave photos are!
Since some of the images of the past year have made me cringe, and since I have realized how much I love portraits, my project for 2011 will be to make one or two portraits a month that I am proud to share with the public. At this point in time, to me that means finding new subjects, planning out lighting and styling, and testing out new techniques.
I would also like to put out more sets of lush images that describe events/tell brief stories, and I look forward to compiling those images a bit more than I have in 2010.
Until then...Thanks for visiting my blog! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! 2011 IS GONNA' ROCK!!!

December 30, Sitting

Well, we finally got ourselves a real snowstorm out here in Colorado. And no one loves snow as much as my best bud Chloe Storch. When I got home from work yesterday, she was acting pretty pathetic, wanting to get out to play in the white stuff. Not me--I needed a nap before dealing with the arctic temps. This is what I saw as my eye lids grew heavy: Chloe watching the snowflakes fall outside the window, and Harry trying to figure out what Chloe was up to. I am happy I at least had my iPhone handy to take the shot; getting out of bed surely would have disturbed them. After my nap, by the way, I did take Chloe out in the very cold weather to run free up and down the fairways of the golf course that is right near our house.

December 20, Cat

I was hoping to take a fabulous shot of tonight's eclipse, but since I don't really have the proper gear for that, and since I don't really know if I will be up and wanting to take photos after 11 p.m., I figured I'd better shoot my pesky cat just in case. Another high ISO shot.

When you live in Colorado, you head west for fun. The only time you head east is to hit up the airport, or else to drive to the East Coast. Except for me last Sunday. I took 119 across I-25 and 85 to do a little exploring. It is a different world out there, let me tell you. Flat, dry, nothing. I love it, except the smell.

December 14, Chauatauqua

Yesterday was another fine 60+ degree day in Boulder, Colorado, so I went to Chautauqua for a relaxing lunch time hike. I love Chautauqua, and am really excited to be getting married there next year! The arrow is pointing to the Chautauqua green, which will be the ceremony site.
