Drove to Louisville to visit with family. Quickly to this shot on the way.

November 23, Buttons

My friends and I made buttons a couple nights ago with a Badge-a-Minit button making machine! Not sure how DIY/crafty this is, but while making said buttons, we thought of our friend Kathleen and her new book Craft-In and our friend Romano who just had shoulder surgery. I made him a Mary Lou Retton button to inspire him to bounce back quickly, but it did not turn out perfectly (oh, the trials of button making). I also made a young Michael Jackson button and wore it to work yesterday. Surprisingly, no one said anything. Weirdness.

November 21, Dinner

© Susannah Storch 2010

This is my friend Romano and his mom Jeanne. He took us (and Tracy too!) out to the biggest meal ever at the Med on Sunday night. We enjoyed three (or was it four?) rounds of tapas. YUM! Thanks!

November 20, Cleo

Cleo the cat had quite the rocking Saturday night. Seriously. After this shot was taken, she was chased by a yellow lab, and launched herself straight up in the air (I've never seen anything like it) and into Rob's mouth, leaving one of her claws in between Rob's teeth. Both Cleo and Rob are doing just fine.

Longmont train tracks. I love the sound of the train; it reminds me of Long Island.

November 18, Sanitas Valley Trail

I had a bit of time to kill after work in Boulder last night, so I headed to my old stomping grounds: Dakota Ridge and the Sanitas Valley Trail. This is one of my (many) favorite spots in Boulder, and one of the (few) places that I will hike alone, even with my mountain lion fears. (Side note: this also happens to be super close to the spot where I am 99% sure I saw a mountain lion, which turned out to be a rather comical-and not scary-event.) Anyway, it was a beautiful evening with warm winds, and this is sort of what I saw, minus the pink clouds (that occurred a few minutes later) and the tall grasses waving in the winds.

Just in case you wanted to know what my favorite pair of shoes look like with dirty wood floors at 5000 ISO...

November 16, Spider

I was lucky enough to win Craft-In, a 12 project booklets for my own crafty gatherings, which is edited by Kathleen McCafferty and published by Lark Books. Included in the prize was a "ghouly gal" craft kit by Suzie Millions. This spider fell out of the kit, and has been sitting on my kitchen table for a few days. Even though I know it isn't real, it still startles me every once in a while. And, I love this book! I can't wait to have my own Craft-In party!

November 14, Snow

Rob and I found winter, or did winter find us? We headed towards Peaceful Valley to Camp Dick to go for a hike and let Chloe be a free dog. Lots of snow! Hard to believe that last weekend was over double today's temperatures and we were in shorts and tanks mountain biking the backside of Hall Ranch. Well, that's not too hard to believe in this state.

No, I am not on my Antarctic vacation. Just a still from Warren Miller's latest Wintervention. I wasn't going to get a ski pass, but as soon as temps hit just the 30s for a high, all bets were off. It's why we live here. Vail and Beaver Creek, here I come.

November 7, Wind

We were having this beautiful fall day, and then this front came in with blowing winds, dark clouds, and even some rain. Within an hour, it was gone, and it didn't even take the warm temperature with it.

November 6, Bruce Campbell

© Susannah Storch 2010

I was hanging in out in Lyons when I noticed this Bruce Campbell sculpture, so I popped out of my truck and took a shot (with my little Canon still, again). What a glorious Saturday I had, by the way. Mid-70s, lunch in Lyons, mountain biking, yard work, dog walk, a little iPhone game playing, movie, extra hour of sleep.

One last evening hike before the time change...until April?! (Taken with my little Canon again.)

November 4, Trunk

I've checked out this tree trunk in a local park before. The knot looks like so many things to me...lizard, turtle, or fish face. Or, a big nose with the missing branch as an eye. There are many big old trees in my part of Longmont, which is part of the reason I am happy to live here.

Happy birthday to Braden, Kathleen, Carolyn, my mom, and all the other November birthdays!

November 1, Cat

© Susannah Storch 2010

I've been playing with my little PowerShot A1000 camera, which is a small, light point-and-shoot Canon. I had it for a couple years, and didn't become a fan of it until I brought it to Phish Telluride last summer. I like using a super high ISO and getting gritty, grainy non-flash photos with it. And it is so, so light compared to the camera/lenses I normally lug around.

October 31, Candy

I was supposed to go to a Ween concert this HalloWEEN, but I flaked out, and stayed out home and handed out candy to little princesses, witches, and action heroes.
