October 23, Pumpkin Patch

So I went to pretty much the coolest place ever last night--northeastern Colorado. What a spot! Flat land, run-down restaurants with neon signs that say "Food", grain silos, tumbleweed. And our final destination was even cooler than that--a group of my girls friends and I went to the Fritzler Corn Maize. I love this place. Besides the corn maize and "Screaming Acres", they have a pumpkin patch, two huge trampolines, campfire pits, some sort of inflatable lizard thing that you enter, go-carts, an ATV roller coaster ride, and way, way more. I got two big pumpkins for just $8. And I got chased by multiple people yielding chain saws. Yes! Indian Hot Springs, one of my other Colorado fave spots, has some big competition.

All of Rob's family...I set up the shot, and Jeremy pushed the button since I haven't used my timer on new camera, and time is of the essence when you have four young boys in the photo! Wish we had a bigger space and two off-camera flashes, but you work with what you have.

I'm pretty sure that when we guessed which songs Phish would be playing for their final night in Broomfield, no one guessed Bug, Meat, or the Meatstick!

One of the problems I have with this "Photo a Day" blog is that one image doesn't tell the whole story or set the whole mood for an event. I feel that these photos, and many of my other ones, are much stronger grouped together.

October 1, Tomatoes

© Susannah Storch 2010

The tomato gods love me, thank you very much. When I went to the farmer's market back in May (almost 5 months ago now!) and told one of the farm stands that I wanted tomatoes - lots of tomatoes please - they sold me the best tomato plants ever. It seems as if we've had tomatoes for months, and I can't imagine having to buy them again. When I go into the back yard, I always leave scratching my head and laughing. How can one plant can grow so big and keep producing tomatoes? Thank you plants. Thank you warm Colorado summer and one of the warmest Septembers ever.
