June 27, Baby
I headed to south Denver yesterday afternoon to finally meet up with a college friend, her husband, and her six-month old baby boy. Allie and I played rugby together, and we have both lived out here for several years, but have never gotten together, which is completely silly. I had fun catching up and photographing her happy baby boy. I have never heard a baby giggle as much as Riley does--what a sweetheart!
June 25, Hmmm...
Well I did take a few photos on Friday, but they seem to be missing. I will have to keep an eye out for them, and will post if I locate them. I have a feeling I reformatted the cards for weekend photoshoots.
Meanwhile, I am keeping my fingers crossed that Google chooses Longmont as the city to host a high-speed fiber optic project. Our internet connection can be pretty slow at times, and I am hoping that we are chosen so that I can do more photo stuff without annoying lags, and so that my Netflix Xbox viewing experience will be more seamless. Longmont held a message-to-Google event that I may have participated in, had it not been on a Friday afternoon at 11 a.m.

What a lucky gal I am! Rob took me mountain bike riding at my favorite spot last night, Hall Ranch in Lyons, Colorado. Once you get up and over the initial (and never-ending) uphill, you enter the most beautiful lush green valley area. It was only my fourth time mountain biking, and I just love it. Physically, it is really hard for me. The uphill makes my lungs feel like they are bleeding. The downhill requires all of my concentration and hand strength (since I am gripping my brakes for life). But it feels so good. And I was even luckier yesterday since Rob agreed to go in the 90+ degree heat, which I just thrive off of. I love the burning sensation of sweat in my eyes. I love feeling like I should melt into the earth. There is one thing that I don't love about this sport: mountain biking means mountain lions. Of course we didn't see any, but because Rob zooms so far ahead of me on the downhill, I am alone for much of the return. And I think about how pretty everything looks, how to not fall off my bike, and whether any cougars are waiting to pounce. Can't wait to go again!

I am proud that I took a photo yesterday. It may not be the best or most interesting one, but I did it. There are still just two days of 2010 where I haven't touched my camera.
In this photo, Harry is hanging out the window. I've found him several times over the last few days in between the glass and the screen, smelling the summer air. He has the most magnificent tail, and spends a lot of time looking out windows and sizing up the tails of squirrels.

Randomly, out of ten miles of camping along the shoreline, our friends picked out the same camping spot that Rob and I had when we last camped at Gross five years ago. This camping experience was much better since there was no one in the area playing loud Sublime, using chainsaws all night, shooting guns, or howling at thunder.

Another birthday celebration! Growing up I only knew a couple other Geminis. Here in Colorado, they are everywhere. Rob's birthday is a week and a day after mine (although really it is 357 days before mine). The Gemini list goes on and on. In this photo, Rob and his family stand behind his birthday cake.

June 7, Breathe
Things have been incredibly crazy (which may be euphemism for stressful!) the last few days, and I didn't take a single photo yesterday. If I am remembering correctly, I have shot over 10,000 photos since January 1, so giving it a day's rest is probably good for me and my hard-drive. Breathe!

On Sunday I got out for a short bit to visit Lyons, Colorado and their Lyons Studio Tour event. My friend Melissa, who makes AMAZING stained glass pieces, was part of the tour. I purchased one of her glass peace signs, and felt good that a portion of the proceeds is supporting the horrendous oil spill clean-up efforts. I also was excited to discover the work of a potter named Priscilla Cohan, and I purchased a whimsical wall piece from her. I hope to visit more of the artists next year!

Okay, okay. So I promise to not go all iPhone photo on you. But I only took about 4 photos on Saturday, and they were all with my iPhone. Oh the laziness of it.

June 4, iPhone
© 2010 Susannah Storch
Well, I am officially as cool as Rob. I got an iPhone today. I expect my life to be transformed: calories counted, runs and walks charted, photograph lighting diagrams built, grocery prices compared, birthdays remembered, planets and stars mapped...
I purchased the Hipstamatic iPhone app. Urban hipsters watch out! I took this photo of Harry with it. At the very least, it will help me stay on top of this blog when I have other things on my mind.
